First consumable purchase free, then charge for it

Hello - thanks for reading! I have a slightly unique use case and am looking for guidance.  Product: A service that allows users to upload a video and we create clips from that video that the user can then watch in the app. Goal: I want users to experience this service for free so they can understand and fully appreciate the value of it. Then on subsequent video uploads I want to charge them. Issue: I’m not aware of any way to discount/coupon the first In-app purchase and then charge the user for subsequent purchases. This is on iOS, and the product is a consumable product.  Appreciate any help!Max

`POST /v1/receipts` failing with Server-Side observer mode

Hi there!Can you please clarify the case of using RC with the Server-Side observer mode?Prerequisites:Apple App Store Server Notification is configured Google Real-Time Developer Notifications is configured Webhooks are configuredThe happy-path looks like:Our app (Android/iOS) completes a purchase for a new user and gets the fetch token/receipt Our app sends all needed data (app_user_id, fetch_token, price/currency, product_id) to our backend Our backend invokes POST /v1/receipts Our webhook receives the initial_purchase eventWhat will happen if our backend doesn't invoke POST /v1/receipts due to a network error or internal error:Will the initial_purchase event be raised anyway for that new user? Will any future events be automatically detected for that user? Should we guarantee to invoke POST /v1/receipts to ensure correct behavior?

A re-subscription(without an introductory trial) does not work after a introductory subscription was initially done then canceled

We've noticed that when a user subscribes with a free trial and cancels it (after the trial period), then subscribes again, our code doesn't log the successful purchase, even though RevenueCat does. This seems to only occur for subscriptions without a trial period, as our code only looks for an entitlement set up as a subscription with a trial period.We believe the issue lies with our code not accounting for subscriptions without a trial period: const purchaseMade = await Purchases.purchasePackage(the_package);if (typeof purchaseMade.productIdentifier !== "undefined") ... For some reason, this returns true when they subscribe with the free trial and false when they subscribe without it.Additionally, we're facing another issue with testing subscriptions after a trial ends effectively. We don't know how to do this without waiting for 3 days(introduction trial period). Do you know of a quicker way to test this?

App Store Rejection because some IAP are not in the current offering

Hello,I’ve just submitted a new app.The hap has 10 IAP (5 kind of products: 1,3,6,12 months + lifetime, each for 2 different groups/price points).I added all 10 products because I want to do price experiments.Of course, the current offering has only a subset of these products; presently one of the two lifetime IAPS is the only product in the active paywall.Apps rejected the app for “App Completeness”; when I asked for clarifications they wrote back:Regarding the guideline 2.1, you have submitted 10 In App Purchases for review but the app binary only includes 1 In App Purchase. If you do not want to include in-app purchase products in your app, it would be appropriate to remove any unused in-app purchase products from App Store Connect before resubmitting for review. So they complain I have 10 IAPs but I am showing just one.Of course I could easily set the current offering to one which has 4 or 5 products, but that still leaves 6 out.How do I manage this rejection? i have flutter app for android. I use a monthly subscription(3 days trial). one of the users saw the following story: Changed their renewal preference to  MySubscId Started a subscription of  MySubscId2023-04-08 4:02 AM UTC Last opened the app2023-04-08 4:01 AM UTC Had their subscription of  MySubscId expire2023-04-03 3:06 PM UTC Had their subscription of  MySubscId cancelled due to a billing error2023-04-03 12:26 PM UTC Entered a grace period of  MySubscId due to a billing error.2023-04-03 12:26 PM UTC Started a trial of  MySubscId2023-03-30 12:26 PM UTC First seen using the app2023-03-30 12:24 PM UTC Total Spent for user = 0. so the user used the trial for 3 days, then his subscription ended. but what does “Changed their renewal preference to” mean? Changed their renewal preference to  MySubscId Started a subscription of  MySubscId2023-04-08 4:02 AM UTCany hints - I will be grateful.

Is it possible for new users to get a Free trial (1 week) -> Discount (6 months) -> Regular price

We have an Android and IOS app with a “Pro” subscription product with a monthly and a yearly billing cycle.For now, I’ll talk through the IOS setup: We have a Subscription Group called Pro and within it, we have the Subscription Products Monthly and Yearly We have currently configured an introductory offer for Monthly: 1 week free trial Say we also want to configure a 50% discount for Monthly, so: New user gets a 1 week free trial Then 50% discount for 6 months Then regular price According to Apple docs, it sounds like this this isn’t possible:Although you can create an introductory offer for each subscription product in App Store Connect, each person is only eligible to redeem one introductory offer per subscription group.andApp Store Connect allows you to set an introductory offer for each subscription product in App Store Connect. 'Transfer to new App User ID' + syncPurchases() = Good enough?

If I'm using the 'Transfer to new App User ID' Restore Purchase Behaviour, is just calling syncPurchases() after I call Purchases.configure() a reasonable course of action?I could put a button there and do a proper restore, but if I’m presuming that the user is just going to hit the button anyway, doesn’t syncPurchases() save them the trouble?Many thanks.

Do I ever need to use Purchases.logIn() if I'm using Purchases.configure() including the appUserId ?

 I always have a known user ID before I get to my paywall, so do I ever need to use Purchases.logIn() ?If I sign out, I don’t call Purchases.logOut() because I don’t want to generate an anonymous ID, but when I get another user coming through and hitting the paywall, is it sufficient just to call Purchases.configure() again integrating the new appUserId?I’m just concerned that I’m using a ‘configure’ function for setting the apiKey which should only really be done once per session but I’m doing that every time I sign in a new user when it seems more sensible to use a logIn function.Are there any downsides (apart from a wasted resetting of the apiKey) with the way I’m doing this?I mean, it seems to be working…..Many thanks.

What do I do if I want to Remove a Subscription from Sale

We want to stop offering a set of subscriptions in our app for our lower tier, but want to let existing users to continue to have access to the subscription. If we remove the subscriptions from sale, how do we let the users continue to get access to the features they paid for, and also be able to restore the purchases till their annual/monthly subscription expires?

RevenueCat not working in production app

I have an android app published to the google play store around 4 days ago and revenuecat is not working even though the products are active on the google play console. Everything is working on the dev build. Everything loads properly. But in production, with no settings changed, the revenucat part suddenly doesnt work anymore.I’ve tried doing some error checks and it seems that the code is not getting past the first line of purchases.configure (googleApiKey is defined, i have checked)await Purchases.configure({ apiKey: googleApiKey });const offerings = await Purchases.getOfferings();const customerInfo = await Purchases.getCustomerInfo();does anyone have any ideas?

Different iOS subscriber statuses

What is the difference between “cancelled_trial” and “expired” statuses? In the lists of customers it’s showing me only the former - the latter are in a separate area, but I’m not sure how to count that. Would “cancelled_trial” eventually move to “expired”? Thanks!

Offering licenses outside of AppStore

Hi there,I’m new to RevenueCat, and what I would like to know, is if it’s possible to manually activate user licenses/entitlements from the Dashboard (or API), independently of the AppStore? Let say I want to offer a lifetime license to someone, should I hard-code it on my side, or is it doable with RevenueCat? If so, do I have to create a lifetime iAP on AppStore Connect, that should be “hidden” to public, but that I can activate for the users I want with a promo code? Or can it be easier? Thank you!Thomas

Hello,I’m trying to get a breakdown on Last Seen Platform Version for customers so that we can make a well informed call on supporting older platform versions.This data is visible on customer details UI but it’s not in the CSV file when I export. Get original price and discount price for an in-app-purchase product (not a subscription product)

I want to give my customers a limited period discount for the lifetime product in my app, and I want to show both the original price and the discount price for that product in the paywall so that my customers would know how much they could save if they purchase now. I have configured a price change on App Store connect for this IAP product, and I wonder how I can get the original price and the discount price? It seems that the `package.storeProduct.localizedPriceString` gives me the discount price and I didn’t find a way to get the original price.

40-45% Billing Error

Hi!I recently launched a hard paywall in my app and have had a fair few people each day sign up to the 3 day free trial.Around 55% of users remain after the 3 day trial but I am finding that when it ends around 40-45% of the remaining users are running into 'billing errors' meaning they end up not paying at the end of the trial despite never cancelling.The app does target a younger audience, but this still feels way too high. Has anyone come across this issue before at such a high % and if so, is there anything we can do to try and improve this number?Thank you!

I’m offering ability to purchase individual subscriptions based on account. I need a way to pull current active device subscriptions so I can assign unique subscriptions to user accounts. Does revenue cat have a Swift SDK option to pull current active device subscriptions?

PurchaseInvalidError - Android

Hello,I am testing in app subscriptions in my app. Actually it’s been working really fine till today. I cancel and restart muy subscription many times to test the features. Today when i try to subscribe to app i have this message below;PurchasesError(code=PurchaseInvalidError, underlyingErrorMessage=Error updating purchases. DebugMessage: Expired Product details. Please fetch product details again and use it to retry the call.. ErrorCode: DEVELOPER_ERROR., message='One or more of the arguments provided are invalid.') I am fetching product informations correctly (like price ...etc). What should i do?

Offer code that provides both a month free and a discount

Hi,We are trying to create an offer code for a partner that gives their clients a month free and then 20% off our product. Is there a way to have an offer code or some combination of offer code and introductory offering that gives a user both a month free and a discount?Basically, the flow would be - a user comes on to our app referred by a partner. We to set up some relationship with the partner where THEIR users specifically get both: 1 month free 20% off our list price. For further context, we use the in-app offer code redemption sheet currently for offer codes. Are their better options than this for partner offer codes in an iOS app?

How to use RevenueCat for consumables products?

Hello,I intend to have both subscription and consumable products in my app. If you want an example of the kind of setup I want, check Slopes: the app offers subscription (monthly/yearly) + consumables (passes to unlock one day or one week). In Slopes, the user can redeem the pass whenever he wants, but it’s not what I plan: I plan to use the consumable as soon it’s purchased. So if a user purchase a one week pass consumable, I want to unlock the content from the purchase date.How would you setup the same thing using RevenueCat? Do I have to setup my own system to record the purchase date (= activation date in my case) then unlock the content based on this date? Or is it possible to access consumables purchase history in RevenueCat so I can check when a consumable had been purchased and unlock the content afterwards?Thanks,Axel

Simple App that needs RevenueCat integration

I’m a basic developer and have found an idea of which I would like to monetise with a monthly subscription.  It’s a simple two page app - which the base has been written.  However I would really like to now integrate RevenueCat into this to enable monthly subs. Is there a pool of developers that, with payment can help out with this as I’m going around in circles.

Noticing many BILLING_ERROR alerts when testing in sandbox

I am using cordova-plugin-purchases in my App. I’ve noticed many “Had their subscription of  vetcalculators_monthly_android:vetcalculators-monthly-android cancelled due to a billing error” comments in my sandbox testing recently. (Also in iOS). Using API Keys to Retrieve Subscriber Status from a server

Hello,I am using webhooks to store all webhook events that RC sends me in a postgres database. I noticed on the webhook documentation that I should be requesting the `/subscriber` endpoint on every subscription webhook event that comes in in order to “sync” the state of the database to the RC api source of truth. My question is - from a server, should I be using the apple API key or the google API key when requesting subscriber attributes from my server? My working assumption is that I can use this api to ultimately tell if a user is subscribed, so I am going to use that to unlock subscriptions / determine backend authorization for certain endpoints. Is this the correct approach here? If so, which key should I be using or does it not matter from the server (will using the apple and google api keys against the /subscriber endpoint return the same data?)Another question I have is about latency. Will the webhook event come in before the revenue cat api is updated? Also is this a bad appro

Apple auto-renew when RC account deleted

I’m wondering what happens in the scenario when subscription auto-renew is enabled and an RC account has been deleted.  For instance: Member deletes account from app RC account is deleted through REST API Subscription is not cancelled in App store and auto-renew is enabled Auto-renew date is due…At this point is a new random RC account created? Does auto-renew still work when an account has been deleted?
