What will happen if we remove a product or entitlement

Currently, we have Monthly, 6 Months and 1 Year plans and we offer 7 days trial period. And we want to remove Monthly plan. There are some users has already subscribed for 1 month. Some of them are in free trial for 1 month, some of them completed free trial and bought the Monthly (renewable) product.

 

My questions are: 

  1. If user already subscribed for Monthly plan and if we remove monthly plan from RevenueCat what will happen? Will user continue using remaning days of 1 month? After the completing remaining days how app will reflect to this? Will they be asked by 6 months and 1 year plans?
  2. If we change 7 days free trial to 3 days free trial, what will happen? Are the subscribed users will continue remaining days of 7?

Hi @mrkacan,

If you remove a product from sale in the store, this will automatically cancel any user’s subscription to that product, and wouldn’t prompt them to switch plans. Removing the entitlement from RevenueCat would cause them to lose access, but wouldn’t ultimately affect their subscription within the store.

If you’d like new users to be unable to purchase the monthly plan, but don’t want to disrupt the current monthly users, I’d recommend hiding the product from sale - don’t remove it from the store and don’t delete the entitlement from RevenueCat, but don’t display the monthly product on your Paywall.

If you’d like this monthly plan to no longer be available for anyone, you would need to remove the product from sale in the stores - this would affect all subscribers and be a permanent solution. Current users’ subscriptions would be cancelled and there’s always the chance that they may not resubscribe.

Regarding your free trial - rather than change the length of the trial, you’ll need to end the existing offer and create a new one. Ending the existing offer will allow anyone with an active trial to finish it out and convert as expected.
