I’ve just realised that calling the new subscription Paywall when the user is seeking account status info and maybe modify the subscription level probably isn’t wise. Is it best practice to create Paywalls specific for this subscription change task?

You can create different paywalls and use the placement targeting to present a specific offering when the user prefers to modify the subscription level rather than a new subscription. You can also offer the Customer Center feature that allows your users to change plans.
