Please add Modify Text Layer to Custom Variables rules

Hi ​@JFBeaulieu, thank you for this feedback, I can pass this along to our paywalls team. To clarify, you are looking to have duplicated components share the same rules and those changes, i.e. modified text/visibliity, and the ability to change the style across multiple components?

No, not exactly. I’m looking to not have to create duplicated components in the first place.

There are 3 types of ‘variables’ to base Rules on:
Custom Variables, Selected Package and Active Offer.

There is 3 options to modify elements in the Rules right now:
Show Layer, Add Layer and Modify Text Layer.

Show Layer and Add Layer are available for all 3 base rules.
But Modify Text Layer is available for Selected Package and Active Offer only.
It is not available in Custom Variables rules.

This causes me to have to duplicate the components. And creates a bunch of other issues to manage. Changing styles across multiple components is not needed if I don’t need to duplicate components in the first place.

For example, I received a custom variable that is the user’s favorite activity. There are 5 possible ones.
My paywall has a photo hero and a header.
I want to change the image and the header text depending on the value of my custom variable.
ie. custom variable value is ‘baseball’: Header: Ready to play ball? Image: A baseball player.
And so on for 5 sports.
Because I can only use show/hide layers, doing this currently means duplicating the hero image 5 times, and the header component 5 times.
