Hi @benjytec ,
I'm Tarek from Developer Support, thanks for reaching out!
I looked into this. RevenueCat does not support Google Play discount offers on one-time products yet. This applies to all our SDKs and to RevenueCat Paywalls. The first reply in the first thread you linked said the opposite. That reply was not correct, and a later reply in the same thread corrected it. Sorry for the confusion.
"How is the current situation and progress on this topic?"
The feature is on our roadmap, and our SDK team is aware of the demand. I do not have a date to share.
Until then, you can run the discount with a second product:
- Create a second one-time product in Google Play Console with the discounted price. Mark its purchase option as backwards compatible.
- Import the product into RevenueCat and set its type to non-consumable. Attach it to the same entitlement as the regular product.
- Add the product to a package in a new offering.
- Create a Targeting rule that serves this offering. A rule can have a start time and an end time, so the sale starts and stops without an app update: https://www.revenuecat.com/docs/tools/targeting#scheduling-targeting-rules
For the strikethrough text, you have both products in the offering. In your own paywall, read price.formatted from the regular product and from the discount product, and show the regular price with a strikethrough.
On a RevenueCat Paywall, you can do the same with custom variables: https://www.revenuecat.com/docs/tools/paywalls/creating-paywalls/variables
Two limits of this approach. The Google purchase sheet will not show a native discount badge, because Google sees a regular product. Your Charts will show two products. Access checks do not change, because both products grant the same entitlement.
Let me know if that makes sense and if there's anything else I can help with!
Have an excellent day.
Best regards,
