Paywall - Multi Tier - Hide current subscription

I am setting up two tiers of subscription “Plus” and “Pro”

I have followed threads from other posts on the forums such as:

  • iOS its 1 Subscription group, with 2 service levels
  • Android its 2 separate subscriptions
  • RevenueCat its 2 separate entitlements

Users are successfully able to purchase either tier with this

I am now trying to figure out how best to handle allowing a user to upgrade their entitlement from plus to pro in react-native

The issue with presenting the paywall again is that the user sees the same tier they already have (plus), which seems confusing and I wouldn’t want them to re-pay for the same subscription

Is it possible to re-use the existing paywall I use for upgrading to either plus or pro hiding the plus option conditionally?

or do i need to create a second paywall with only pro features displayed?

Appreciate any thoughts on how to structure this!

Hi @kieran-osgood,

We’re working on conditional paywalls, but for now the best approach is to create a separate paywall and only present it when you already know the user has the Pro entitlement active.

In any case, users can’t pay again for a subscription they already own since that’s enforced by the app stores. However, showing a purchase paywall to an active subscriber can be confusing and may make them think they don’t have Pro.

Let me know if this helps!

Hey @joan-cardona

That clarifies things glad to see I'm on the right Track.

I was concerned with the double payments, in test store that limitation doesn't show up, I don't think I can't test this flow until I get to closed testing, so not sure the experience there when app store rejects, guess the present paywall returns an error?

Final follow up question, where is the best place to subscribe to progress on conditional pay walls? It'd be useful to be notified when they're GA!

Thank you for your help!

Hi @kieran-osgood,

You are right, the store shows a message stating that you are already subscribed.

We don’t have a set date or a way to notify you when it’s available but you’ll see it in our newsletter if you are subscribed to it. Our goal is to release it during Q1 so it shouldn’t take long to be available.

Best,
