Hi team, I’ve been facing a persistent

issue with the sandbox environment, for more than a week now. I was able to purchase subscriptions initially but all of a sudden they stopped working. I always get the Unable to process your request. Please try again later. Environment: Sandbox error.

Now initially i though it was a me problem, thinking maybe the code changes broke something. But then I googled a lot, asked chatGPT for the solution. Tried everything but to absolutely no avail.

This is the error I get in the terminal

ERROR  [RevenueCat] 🍎‼️ There was a problem with the App Store.
ERROR  [RevenueCat] 💰 Product purchase for 'unferturfer899_1w_3d0_7d299' failed with error: PurchasesError(error: There was a problem with the App Store., userInfo: ["NSUnderlyingError": StoreKit.StoreKitError.unknown, "readable_error_code": "STORE_PROBLEM", "source_function": "asPurchasesError", "NSLocalizedDescription": "There was a problem with the App Store.", "source_file": "RevenueCat/StoreKitError+Extensions.swift:43"])

Letting you know that i have tried everything - restarting device, uninstalling / reinstalling app, logging our of the app store, making many new sandbox accounts.
Moreover, I tried making a new app, from scratch and just kept the subscription functionality to test it out. IT STILL DIDN’T WORK!

I feel totally out of options now and don’t even know what to do anymore :(

Also attaching the error alerts.

I would really really appreciate if you can help me out of this, honestly after so many tries, i just want out of it now. it’s all becoming more frustrating everyday.

Aah man you’re right. I removed the 3-day trial and it worked! No errors, subscribed nicely! Any idea what’s going wrong? Also, did you try with 7-day trial?
@joan-cardona @alejandra-wetsch @Jens would love your insight on what’s going wrong here.

I think may be it's a issue with the sandbox. The trial might work in production or in testflight.

Nope it wasn't working in testflight either. I had checked. Was suspecting the same but well, no luck. Don't know what the reason tho. But atleast now we know what the issue is.

Have you tried to send the app to apple for approval?

I have one old app which was already in app store and I introduced free trial in it and it worked means the trial will work in production. You can check the app here - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/remindo-task-water-reminder/id6746641151 Open the app and select the weekly plan and press start free 3 day trial and if it works meaning the introductory offer works in production. The trick is to get the app in app store without any trial because if trial doesnt work in reviewers phone then they might not approved the app and once the app gets approved and goes to production then u introduce the introductory trial period. Check this and let me know.

Yeah right pretty sure this is only a sandbox issue as its known for being notoriously flaky. Thanks for the suggestion, seems to be the best bet for now. I'll hopefully be launching the app this month, and I wanna ask one more question. Let's say I took it to the App store without the trial, then if I add the trial when the app is live, will it require a review? This is my first app so don't have much knowledge about the review process as a whole.

No the introductory offer does not require any review and then add it through revenuecat and any changes through the revenuecat can be done remotely. My app was live and today I added the introductory offer it did not required any review.

Same error, have been pulling my hair for the past 3 days, looks like issue with 3 day free trail and sandbox account, I have the same config for my other apps and it works fine, Hopefully it should be fixed soon.

Hi @yusuf-khn, the sandbox environment can definitely have errors like this. When the underlying store problem errors occur, we usually recommend changing the sandbox account used and creating a new one, and making sure to testing purchases in physical devices. As you have already done the former, can you make sure to be using a physical device? If it still doesn’t work then could you please open a support ticket here with the following information:

  • The device you are using including the OS version
  •  The code for this
  • Screenshots of how this is setup in App Store Connect
  • Your SDK version
  • Full RevenueCat debug logs with log level verbose instead of debug

Hi @Haley Pace, turns out there's some sorta bug with the 3 day trial subscription products. I opened another thread here on which someone else told me they were facing the same on their 3-day trial products. So we tried removing the trial entirely and it worked without any errors. Just another instance of the unreliable sandbox environment. Also I think these kind of behaviours should be highlighted somewhere for people struggling with the same, as I couldn't find any info related to that happening with only the plans including trials. Would be helpful for others I guess:)

Experiencing the same issue here. Any subscription with a trial period triggers this error in sandbox. How are we supposed to test trial functionality before going live if sandbox doesn't support it properly?

Hi @yusuf-khn, thank you for letting me know, I can work on getting this better documented. In regards to finding a workaround for this, if you are still able to reproduce this in sandbox then can @yusuf-khn and @bharat-2f213d please share with me the following via a support ticket here :

  • The device you are using including the OS version – make sure to be using a physical device and not a simulator
  • Your SDK version
  • Screenshots of how the trial and product is setup in App Store Connect
  • Full RevenueCat debug logs with log level verbose instead of debug

Hi @yusuf-khn @bharat-2f213d if you could provide the above information in a support ticket or a dm to me in community that would be helpful to our investigation! Additionally if you could provide the following information as well:

  • The XCode version and OS versions you are using?
  • Does this issue affect only sandbox, or are you also seeing this in the Xcode (SKConfig) and production environments as well?
  • Have you tried using a different Xcode version?
  • Can this issue be reproduced with other intro offer combinations? (7 days, 14 days, non-free intro offers, etc.)
