Unfortunately we were not able to figure out how to retrieve this data related to installs.
What would be the best way to retrieve the number of installs since the ETL export only contains subscriptions?

Creating a Customer List with some filter on the “First Seen” time would get you a list of every App User ID (what the overview counts for installs).
