Can’t create new chart or filter by Media Source attribution

Hey everyone 👋

We’ve recently moved to RevenueCat, and I’m trying to rebuild one of the key analytics workflows we used before- analyzing Trials, LTV, and Refunds broken down by Media Source.

In our setup, the app sends attribution data using the $mediaSource field, following the RevenueCat documentation.
I can see that this value (e.g. Traffic Source) is correctly displayed in each Customer Details page — so the attribution data is definitely being passed and received.

However, I’m running into two issues:

  • don’t see a “New Chart” (+) button anywhere in the Charts section, even though I’m on the Pro plan and have the Admin role.

  • I can’t find any way to filter or segment existing charts by $mediaSource

I’ve already tried the usual troubleshooting steps (different dashboards, cleared cache, incognito mode, no ad blockers, different browsers, etc.), but no luck.

So I’m wondering:

  1. Has anyone successfully created or filtered charts by $mediaSource attribution?

  2. Any idea why the New Chart button might be missing, even with admin permissions?

This analysis is really important for us, we use media source data to understand user acquisition performance and optimize marketing spend. So any advice or examples would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Thanks!

Hi @homerby,

Thanks for reaching out, I’m happy to help.

First, about the “New Chart (+)” button: you’re not missing anything. RevenueCat Charts don’t have a separate “create new chart” action. Instead, you open one of the built-in charts (e.g., Revenue, Trial Conversion, Realized LTV), adjust filters/segments/date range, and then click Save to keep that configuration. Saved views behave like “custom charts” and show up in your list for quick access later.

On filtering/segmenting by $mediaSource. Today, the Charts UI supports attribution filters for Apple Search Ads specifically (Attribution Source, Campaign, Ad Group, Keyword, Claim Type). Generic subscriber attributes like $mediaSource aren’t yet exposed as chart filters in the dashboard.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.

Best,

Hussain

Thanks for clarifying! That makes sense.

However, I wanted to mention that your in-house AI support actually suggested creating a new chart using the “+” button, so it might be worth adjusting those responses to avoid confusion for other users in the future.

Appreciate your help!
