Hi All,

Can someone confirm what the process is to allow full testing for App Store/Play Store reviews when using anonymous Ids with Paywalls? The App Store mentions providing a sign in user id and password, but this isn’t applicable when using anonymous ids…

Any help appreciated - thank you!

Hi all,

That’s correct, the credentials Apple review team asks for is in order to see what a logged in user sees. They will perform sandbox purchases using their own reviewer accounts so there’s no need to provide anything in this specific case.

Best,

What do you mean by “app store testing”?

And in what context does the App Store mention a sign-in uid and password?

App Store Review I should say, as part of the review submission they state:

Sign-In Information

Provide a user name and password so we can sign in to your app. We’ll need this to complete your app review.

There’s a similar statement on Play Store

That doesn’t really have anything to do with the Anon IDs. As a matter of fact the client shouldn’t really know what their Anon ID is.

What the app stores are asking for is admin or test login credentials that can allow them to see what a “logged in” user sees on your app.

Yep I get that - my point is that some apps that use anonymous ids use them because there is no concept of a “logged in user” - these apps will use paywalls and the device id to register whether or not a user is permitted to view “paid for” content.

My post is asking, in this scenario, where there is no logged in user, no admin account etc etc, but a reliance on anonymous ids to validate “paid for” content eligibility - how does the app review and play store review process deal with this? How do the testers access the paid for content in absence of any logged in user functionality?

I see now. I know that Apple makes purchases on their behalf as test users to see what lies behind the paywall. Meaning you don’t need to provide credentials
