Add another subscription duration to offering/paywall

Hello, I’d appreciate some advice about adding another subscription duration to a released app.

The app currently has a published paywall that contains only 1 package for an approved monthly subscription. I'd like to submit a weekly subscription to Apple for review and add the weekly option to the paywall alongside the monthly one.

I’ve done the following so far:

  • added the weekly subscription in App Store Connect to the subscription group with the same level as the monthly subscription
  • it's now in "Ready to Submit" status
  • imported the new weekly subscription as a product in RevenueCat
  • attached the same entitlement as the monthly subscription

The app uses the “current” offering from the SDK to display the paywall, so the released version should be able to show the new subscription with an updated offering/package/paywall.

I’m not sure whether I should modify the existing offering and paywall or create new ones.

  • Can I modify the existing offering and paywall in place to add the weekly option without affecting what is currently shown to users? Will the updated paywall simply skip or hide the new package until Apple approves the subscription?
  • The first subscription had to be submitted with a new build of the app (as indicated in App Store Connect). Can additional subscriptions be submitted for review without submitting a new build?

Thanks.

Hey @4ndrew,

You can just continue using the same paywall and same offering, you don't need another one unless you have a specific need for it.

You just have to update your offering by adding a new package (Weekly) and selecting your newly imported product for this package.

Then, you can reference the weekly package in your initial paywall by adding a new Package component in your package stack.

RevenueCat will automatically filter out any packages whose underlying product is not yet available from the App Store. This means if you add the weekly package to your offering/paywall now, users on the live app won't see it until Apple approves the subscription. Once approved, it will start appearing automatically without any further changes needed on your end.

However, as a best practice, it's still worth testing in sandbox to confirm the paywall renders cleanly with just the monthly package while the weekly one is pending.

The first subscription had to be submitted with a new build of the app (as indicated in App Store Connect). Can additional subscriptions be submitted for review without submitting a new build?

Yes, absolutely. Apple only requires the initial in-app purchases / subscriptions to be submitted alongside a new app version. After that first one is approved, subsequent products (like your new weekly subscription) can be submitted for review independently, without needing to submit a new build.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help with!

Best regards,
