I noticed an error logged for one of the iOS users:

The most interesting part is this:

“The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be “p55-buy.itunes.apple.com” which could put your confidential information at risk.

The error happens when attempting to make a purchase in the live app. What does this error mean?

Hi Rafi,

What you mentioned above, with the warning,

“The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be “p55-buy.itunes.apple.com” which could put your confidential information at risk.”

It mostly just looks like a user trying to do a man in the middle attack by replacing apple’s servers, or maybe they have just set the date and time in their device manually and the connection doesn’t validate. In any case, that one doesn’t seem like anything to worry about at a glance.

Today I saw the same user having a different purchase error:

The receipt is not valid. The purchased product was missing in the receipt. This is typically due to a bug in StoreKit.
